The founder and principal architect of the firm is Bashirul Haq. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture from National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan in 1964. He received ′John Heimrich Tuition, Scholarship′ and Teaching Assistantship at University of New Mexico, US in 1971 and completed his Master of Architecture from the university in 1975. Then he worked briefly for Kallmann McKinnell & Wood.He returned to Bangladesh and established Bashirul Haq & Associates in 1977 and started practicing architecture. In 1989, he visited Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an invited design critic.Haq has been nominated three times for Aga Khan Award for Architecture and received Institute of Architects Bangladesh Gold Medal in 2020.
