Batchfire Resources is the owner of the Callide Mine in Central Queensland, an open-cut energy coal operation located 120km southwest of Gladstone and 20km northeast of the thriving regional township of Biloela. The mine has operated since 1944 producing low sulphur energy coal primarily for domestic power generation, alumina refining and international electricity generation. Under the ownership of Batchfire Resources since October 2016, the mine continues to meet the quality and performance benchmarks sought by its domestic and international customers. Conventional open cut mining methods are employed using two draglines, haul trucks and excavator fleets. Saleable coal production targets 11 million tonnes per year. Nearby, two lynchpins of the Queensland electricity supply system – CS Energy’s high-efficiency Callide B and C Power Stations – are the mine’s biggest customer. The Boundary Hill South and Trap Gully mining areas are the focus for maintaining a proud tradition of reliable coal supply, local employment and business opportunities.
