BATEKOO is a platform for entertainment, entrepreneurship and black, peripheral and LGBTI + cultures with a focus on urban youth. Beyond a party, it is a connecting pole between restless young people, who seek to propose counter-hegemonic narratives and social transformations in the Brazilian cultural scene. A 100% black and LGBT company, which was born in 2014 in Salvador as a way to create an affirmative space at night and, with repercussions on social networks, the project expanded to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Recife and Distrito Federal, conquering an annual audience of 150 thousand people, predominantly black, LGBT and from peripheral regions in its events. With national and international expansion, we are increasingly gaining portals and vehicles in the country, such as Folha de S. Paulo, Estadão, Globo, Meio & Mensagem, and international ones such as The New York Times, Paper Magazine, Mail & Guardian, DJ Mag, among others, which guided the social impact of the movement and events held. With the international exhibition, we compose the programming of major festivals in the United States, such as Summerstage, Brazil Summerfest and AFROPUNK Brooklyn in New York, AFROPUNK Johannesburg, in South Africa and the Red Bull Music Festival, in Santiago, Chile , Latin America. In 2019 we also did the first international tour in Europe, together with Deize Tigrona - artist contracted for the musical label BATEKOO Records. in eight countries (Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Holland, England, Italy and Portugal) and eleven events held. BATEKOO Records and Escola B, are the other arms of the platform. The first is the construction of a musical label in order to strengthen and enhance black musicians and artists from the independent scene. Escola B, in turn, is the educational project that seeks to offer technical training and socio-historical training to black and LGBT audiences in an accessible way, enabling new opportunities for learning and work.
