BATIKA was founded by a young lady, Ms. Renu Bharat, who was facing the hurdles of flood in Darbhanga district of North Bihar. The devastation brought about by flood every year, and subsequent loss of natural as well as human resources, makes the condition of people deplorable. Men in the working age group from the rural areas which are most harshly hit by flood migrate to the towns in search of livelihood, leaving behind the women, children and old people to fend for themselves.
