Rebecca A. Battle is based in Los Angeles, California. Originally from a suburb of Scranton, Pennsylvania, she is a classically trained pianist, starting at the age of four. Steeped in the traditions of the New Topographics movement she documents the erosion and disappearance of urban and rural America, mostly devoid of human activity. The monographs suggest a sudden occurrence annihilated life and she uses every day life and its surroundings as if it were ready-made set design. Commercial and editorial photography. Done finely.
