Architecture & Planning - Shanghai, Shanghai, China
Sustainable Urban Planning + Architecture Design. BEAR Architecten was one of the first Sustainable practises in The Netherlands. In the first years the focus was on Sustainable Housing. Later it became broader and offices, schools, education centres became part of the projects. BEAR Architecten designed the first Cradle-to-Cradle building in the Netherlands (De Kleine Aarde, Boxtel 1987-1995). The philosophy can be found in the book "Bouwmaterialen en milieu - Kiezen voor een duurzaam grondstoffengebruik in de bouw" 1990 by Kees Duivestein, Tjerk Reijenga and Frank Stofberg. BEAR opened a second office in Shanghai (BEAR-iD) that became more and more important. In Asia the focus is on master planning up to around 4500 ha, agropark design in co-operation with university and consultants, industrial master planning including factory design (architecture), business/office parks, landmark buildings, commercial buildings, low and zero carbon buildings. Services are concept and schematic design, preliminary and detailed design, construction site managment (last phases in co-operation with LDI).
