We're Niki and Candy. We were neighbors and friends before we were partners. At that Easter dinner Candy met Niki's mother and tasted her feast of Greek desserts for the first time, generations old recipes that her mother faithfully continued to bake for family celebrations. Why hadn't she ever seen anything like them in a marketplace so rich with international foods, Candy asked. An idea was conceived – a company was born – a goal set forth – To bring these long-overlooked Greek treats to the American marketplace.Our butter biscuits soon became bestsellers. Recognizing a winner, we temporarily dropped our other products and decided to assault the vaunted and over-played biscotti market. Our slogan "Better than Biscotti" proved true, most everyone who tasted them agreed. So much so that after two years working out of our home kitchens it became impossible to keep up with demand. We were turning orders away, forced to pass on potential growth opportunities. It was time, the business demanded that we expand into a commercial kitchen, make the leap into the big leagues. We were ready. But then we weren't. Life challenges, unexpected as they usually are, threw roadblocks in our path. Our lives moved us off in different directions. We knew we could not make the whole-hearted commitment our dream deserved. Reluctantly, sadly, we had to tuck it safely away. But we never stopped believing.Years later we reconnected. Niki and her family had never truly put the dream aside. They asked Candy if she would help them revive the business. And so a new company, with a new name, Belegrina, and the same delicious products we'd started out with twenty years ago was launched in 2019. We hope when you try one of our Greek treats for the first time you will taste a morsel of the passion we baked into it. And perhaps that might just Stir Your Passion.
