Apparel & Fashion - Milan, Lombardy, Italy
BENNU was founded in February 2021 by Niccolò Chiuppesi with a precise idea: to recover from the past to protect the future. The first collections of sartorial blazers are born from the research carried out in warehouses and stocks of unsold garments. The unique and numbered pieces blend the Italian sartorial tradition with the desire to be a spokesperson for the process of change that is characterizing our today.Together with the creation of unique pieces made from deadstock garments, now collections are developed from the research and study of archive fabrics - from the 70s to the present day - recovered from stock in the Prato district. The process of recovery of materials belonging to contexts distant from today brings with it the identity of the designer to recreate a world where past and present coexist together in every garment, merging in every seam an indissoluble bond with the elements of nature, the land to which we all belong and the imaginary of a past that continues to live within us.BENNU uses only fabrics in abundance, archival inventories or unsold garments for the realization of its collections. The main objective is to reduce the pollution caused by the overproduction of new garments and new fabrics, and to slow down the frenetic pace that characterizes the world of fashion. The limited availability of fabrics and garments used for production leads each collection to be composed of a limited number of pieces. The productions are entrusted to Italian workshops or social tailors, suppliers that guarantee a fair wage for the employees of the entire supply chain, while maintaining the highest quality of the products.Gender is like a fluid variable that changes and is modified in different contexts and eras: the wants to be the protagonist of a contemporary non-binary universe, where everyone feels part of the change.
