Bentley University's Allocation and Internal Audit Committee, the four Class Cabinets, and the Student Government Association have come together to create a task force, called the Bentley Coalition of Governing Organizations. Each individual organization provides unique insight to the different aspects of campus life and the student experience. We synthesize our backgrounds and experiences to represent the Bentley University student body. The main goal of the Coalition is to create a centralized space for students to express their concerns and to champion change for the University. In June of 2020, the Coalition began designing a form to collect feedback. The aim was to capture the student perspective of recent events – the COVID-19 pandemic, the departure of the University's President, and the status of the Fall 2020 trimester. This survey lead to meetings with Bentley's acting President and the creation of the Return to Campus Student Advisory Board, where students got a direct say in University policies as they were being developed. The Coalition was also a force for social change on campus, partnering with Bentley's Division of Student Affairs and Bentley's cultural orgs to host monthly community conversations discussing both the historical and current day dynamics of racism, sexism, the intersectionality between the two, and more.
