Law Practice - Los Angeles, California, United States
We are experts in nonprofit law, community and economic development and affordable housing, and we are committed to working with organizations dedicated to making a difference in their communities. Our clients include local, national and international nonprofit organizations and social enterprises. Our specialties are formation, qualification for tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status, handling of governance matters, fundraising, bond financing, low income housing tax credits, new markets and historic tax credits and earned income strategies as well as expansion efforts through joint ventures, mergers, partnerships and the formation of hybrid organizations. We were inspired to found Bergman and Allderdice in 2005 by our belief in the need to create, support and advise nonprofit and mission-based organizations. We see the work of these nonprofits and social enterprises as a key equalizer and resource in a world heavily skewed economically and socially. We have both worked at large firms but prefer the personalized service of a smaller, women-owned law firm, and we are dedicated to providing high quality and cost effective legal services. We work closely with every one of our clients to solve complex legal matters and to help each realize self-sustainability. Our areas of expertise include affordable housing, community development, social enterprise, tax-exempt bond financing, tax credit financing, including CDFI- and CDE- source financing, compliance, management, public/private partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, nonprofit and for-profit formation and qualifying organizations for tax-exempt status.
