Best Buddies Australia is a Not for Profit Organisation that works with young people and adults who have an intellectual disability. We match a person who has an intellectual disability in a one to one friendship with a person who does not have a disability. We then ask the Buddy Pair to meet on a regular basis, engaging in regular daily activities that most of us take for granted. These activities include going to the movies together, sharing a cup of coffee or just hanging out and enjoying each other's company. Best Buddies Australia delivers two key programs. Our High Schools Program focuses on young people who have an intellectual disability. Generally we focus on schools that have a Support Class or Special Education Unit located on the same grounds as a main stream high school Our Citizen's program works with adults who have left school.
