BiblioWorks promotes education and literacy in communities in need. We believe that healthy communities require healthy minds. That's why we have been building libraries, supplying books and training librarians in the poorest communities of Bolivia since 2005. Our mission is to support local communities in their pursuit of sustainable development and we believe that reading and literacy lie at the heart of this.We are always looking to recruit enthusiastic and driven volunteers who, like us, have a passion for bringing the joys of literacy and reading to all. We are seeking prospective volunteers from around the world to work in a variety of different positions either in our libraries or in our office in Sucre: including Literacy Ambassador, English teacher, Women's Literacy teacher and Volunteer and Communications Directors. Please visit our website to learn more about our opportunities and, if you feel that you have the skills to meet the demands of the above roles, or have other skills that you feel would benefit our team, we would love to hear from you! Our focus is on the sustainable development of local communities, in and around Sucre, Bolivia, and therefore we require a five week commitment from volunteers. We do not charge a fee to work for us, however volunteers are required to have sufficient funds to cover living costs here (which are significantly cheaper than in other South American countries). Our friendly team here can help you to find suitable and affordable accommodation either here in Sucre or in one of our rural communities. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, our funding comes entirely from donations and the hard work of our small and dedicated team here in Sucre. We are not a religious or political organization but one committed to sustainable development in rural communities which will benefit the people of Bolivia for years to come.
