An initiative set up by Bilbao City Council and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia to promote the creative industries as a factor of economic development and international projection of Bilbao Bizkaia. Its activity focusses on ten specific centres with certain things in common: they are creators of jobs for young people, they operate mainly in the suburbs, and their capacity for anticipating and suggesting strategic solutions for the future of the city and the region: Architecture, art, crafts, video games, design, communication, digital and audiovisual content, interior design and fashion. Set up in 2013, BiDC is governed by a council consisting of 32 relevant organisations from local academic, cultural and economic areas; and a forum formed of more than 200 companies from different creative sectors. Bilbao Ekintza and Beaz are responsible for the day-to-day administration, and the latter is also in charge of the technical secretariat of the BiDC.
