Biflores is a non-governmental organization working to protect biodiversity, located on the island of Brava (Cape Verde). It's aim is to protect and conserve the biodiversity of Brava, including both marine and terrestrial ecosystems, as well as fostering sustainable development to improve the livelihoods of the communities. Brava is a magnificent mountainous island in the southern island chain of Cape Verde and is nicknamed the "island of flowers". Charismatic species include dragon trees, turtles and whale sharks. Brava is home to 25+ endemic plant species, which are highly threatened due to overgrazing, increasing soil erosion and desertification, threatening both biodiversity and the livelihoods of 6,000 inhabitants.
