Big R, founded in 1968 in the towns of Lamar and La Junta, began as a small family owned and operated business. From the inception, Big R of Lamar and La Junta were the dominant farm, ranch and home retail chain in the Arkansas Valley of Colorado.Big R of Pueblo was opened in 1990 and was an immediate hit. In fact, it continues to be one of the top producing stores within our company. Big R of Pueblo's consistent success initiated our expansion into Southern Colorado. Big R of Trinidad was opened in 1998 and Big R of Falcon in 2000. Soon following was Big R of Alamosa and Big R of Center in 2002. Our first metro location, Big R of Elizabeth, opened in 2004. Our first venture onto the western slope of Colorado was Big R of Cortez in 2006.Our first expansion into a state other than Colorado was with our tenth store, Big R of Dumas, Texas. And now with our 11th store in Farmington, New Mexico, Big R can boast that it has a presence in 3 states. Our newest store located in south Colorado Springs, opened in April 2010.Big R customers have come to identify us by our extensive product mix and superior customer service. Our product mix includes: pet supplies, hardware, automotive, sporting goods, lawn & garden, fencing, livestock equipment, tack and agriculture supplies, and all purpose clothing and boots. Big R is truly "The One Stop Shop" for farm, ranch and home. Remember, "Almost Anything... Big R's Got It!"A small business venture, with no more than 25 employees, is now the largest farm, ranch and home retail chain in Colorado, with 12 stores and over 300 employees... and still growing!
