Big Red Bikes is a Cornell student organization that was founded in 2009 to create and run a bike share program on campus. The first pilot launched in 2011 and operated until 2014. The program was very popular, though the initial model relied primarily on volunteer student labor and proved unsustainable. In April 2017 Big Red Bikes, in partnership with Cornell Transportation Services, re-launched using Zagster as a third-party operator. With more time available to focus on other projects, Big Red Bikes is currently preparing to expand our scope beyond bike sharing to become a key player in bike advocacy, education, equity, and entrepreneurship both on and off campus.
