BIGAY BUHAY (Building Lives) Multipurpose Cooperative (BBMC) has over 29 years working in the field of disability and social enterprise. BBMC passion in this field is intrinsically driven by a fact that the organization is founded, owned, and managed by persons with cross disabilities.The founding members of BBMC were students from various universities who were uncertain of their futures after graduation because of several physicals, social and attitudinal barriers they have experienced and continuously facing. Amidst these seemingly ferocious and formidable challenges, the leaders and members pursued shared vision and collective action which resulted in venturing into livelihood enterprises that gave them the opportunity to gainful employment and at the same time help fellow persons with disabilities ( PWDs).BBMC's core business is school chair and assorted bag production. Also, the Cooperative is actively engaged in advocating for the Right to Employment, Health, Education, and Participation to Community of PWDs as well as research and capacity building of disabled people organizations.BBMC was formally registered in Cooperative Development Authority on September 10, 1991 as the first disabled people cooperative organization in the Philippines.
