The aim of BioEclosion is to contribute in the development of the next generation of rapid diagnostic test (RDTs) for low-resource settings to solve societal challenges. BioEclosion explore three key cross-cutting technological challenges that have been identified as bottlenecks in RDTs: (i) the isolation of targets from complex specimens by novel solid-phase preconcentration strategies and advanced materials including magnetic peptides, magnetic molecularly-imprinted polymeric particles, magneto-actuated platforms, among others. (ii) the enhancement of the analytical signal by the integration of novel materials (iii) The exploration of emerging diagnostic biomarkers for the early detection of global diseases, and targets affecting food safety and environmental monitoring. The final goal of BioEclosion is then reducing the burden of global diseases by improving the analytical performance of RDTs, as the sensitivity, specificity and analytical simplification
