Our organic additive blend has been tested using ASTM 5511 standards, meaning our plastics truly biodegrade in a landfill into dirt and gases.What's the difference between biodegradable plastics vs oxo-degradables?-While often confused with biodegradable plastics, oxo-degradables quickly fragment into smaller and smaller pieces, called microplastics. These microplastics don't break down at the molecular level or polymer level like biodegradable and compostable plastics. Which can wind up in the water or food supply. While testing has shown that OXO plastics can be composted, your stretch film waste won't end up in a compost bin!Why Does This Matter?-Degradable plastics simply break down into microparticles of plastic. This is why OXO-degradable plastic has been banned in the European Union.The European Union directive on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment became law in April 2019 and includes a ban on oxo-degradable plastics.
