Renewables & Environment - Malden, Massachusetts, United States
The BioPhysical Economics Institute (BPEI) is a non-partisan, non-profit, multidisciplinary organization of scientists, investment experts, corporate & project finance analysts and policy professionals, who are working together to bring the natural sciences into economic thinking and decision making. As one important application, BPEI aims to incorporate the analysis of energy (such as the Energy Return on Energy Invested, or EROI), into assessments of the feasibility and efficiency of various strategies to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. Our hope is that by synthesizing the thermodynamic, ecological and economic tradeoffs involved in generating and consuming energy from various sources, humanity can achieve the highest social good as we steward our precious natural endowments.
