BitaGreen is a global privately founded engineering and consulting spin-off providing legendary client service and innovative solutions in water, environment and assurance. In 2019, BitaGreen was awarded funding by Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO) in the context of research activity at the Hydrology and hydraulic department of Vrije Universiteit Brussel. BitaGreen was started up with a commitment to maintaining the constant pursuit of excellence to make the world better for all.We see the potential for our proposed innovation in different markets ranging from water and environmental planning and protection, infrastructure development, (storm-) water management, disaster risk reduction and (international) development. We can target a broad range of markets because our innovation tackles a problem of floods and water security that burdens urban areas around the globe while providing a concrete development opportunity in line with international and local policies on climate adaptation and sustainable development.The main application of our innovation is in the development of green infrastructure (GI) plans for urban areas, with different degrees of resolution and consulting. In its simplest form, our application is the use of our software to create maps of GI spatially distributed over the selected urban area showing the resulting reduction in floods, CSOs and improved water/climate security. In its most elaborated form, our application includes a consulting service proceeding from a detailed understanding of cost structures and parties involved in the existing (problematic) situation of urban drainage and climate hazard exposure, and creation of a project blueprint mapping distribution of costs/benefits, responsibilities and policy compliance issues.
