Civic & Social Organization - Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Black Boston is a community organization that strives toward the uplifting and support of Black Bostonians. Our purpose as an organization is to actively dismantle and fight for the elimination of racial inequities while promoting creativity and solidarity within the Black community in the Greater Boston Area.On May 31, 2020, a group of college-aged Black Women in the city of Boston organized a protest to stand in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis following the police murder of George Floyd and to call out the injustices within our own city. We were humbled by the outcome; people from all over the city filled the Boston Commons to demand equity and justice. After the protest, we soon realized that there is a lot more work to be done and that we were ready to start working to enact the change we need. Today, we're home to eight growing committees:Educational ProgrammingCommunity OutreachEventsMental Health AdvocacyPolitical AdvocacyMarketing & CommunicationsFinanceAdministrative
