It's difficult for young entrepreneurs to have a presence in any high street store. It's twice as hard if you're a black-owned business. The majority of black founders lack commercial visibility. We (My Runway Group) wanted to highlight one of the key ways people can support the black community, not just during Black History Month but beyond, by buying black-owned. From a collection of outstanding black owned brands in fashion, beauty, art, literature, film and photography, we offered a space in the heart of London's West End for them to showcase and sell their products to a weekly footfall of over 900,000 people. Showcasing a wide range of black-owned businesses, over 250 businesses joined us in-store.
