Blue Stakes of Utah is the organization to "Call 811 Before You Dig" to have an area checked for underground utility lines prior to excavation in Utah. This free service is funded by the utility owners and is offered at no cost to excavators. An excavator (homeowner or contractor) can request to have utility lines located and marked at a proposed dig site by contacting Blue Stakes at least 48 hours (2 business days) before excavation begins. Contact Blue Stakes online (www.bluestakes.org) or by telephone (811 or 800-662-4111). Our mission is to promote public safety, protect underground facilities, and minimize service interruptions by processing locate requests and providing damage prevention education. We accomplish this as the communications link between excavators and facility owners as the statewide one-call center in providing efficient and cost effective customer service.
