Wine & Spirits - Otazu, , Spain
Bodega Otazu is the northernmost winery in Spain producing red Pago wines. It is located at only 8 km from Pamplona and is surrounded by the Sierra del Perdón and Sierra del Sarbil, and delimited by the Arga River. Its origin dates back to 1840 when the first French style winery was built in Navarra, outside the urban area and in only one estate. Its 110 hectares of own vineyards constitute the only source for making a unique range of wines of outstanding personality: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Merlot. Bodega Otazu is one of the few Spanish wineries that obtained the highest certification for the quality of its vineyards: Pago Appellation. The wines reflect the exceptional microclimate and the Atlantic influences leading to high color intensity, aromatic and fresh wines along with an excellent acidity which is the key of a long wine aging. Besides, Bodega Otazu offers outstanding wine tourism experiences due to its privileged location as well as the blending of history, architecture, art, nature and wine making. It houses a large collection of contemporary art pieces of renown artist from all over the world.
