Book Ravens is the post-secondary book club for Carleton University and the community. The Book Ravens' mission is to provide a welcoming environment for intellectual discussions about literature, connect like-minded members of the community, and share the joy of reading. The Book Ravens meet once a month during the academic year. Special events include bringing in guest authors and a December book exchange. An annual silent auction in the spring brings in donations from the local community and signed books by well known authors. Past donations include a signed copy of Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill, signed copy of the Martian by Andy Weir, signed copy of Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen (a Carleton University graduate), signed copy of the High Mountains of Portugal by Yann Martel, David's Tea baskets, and restaurant gift cards. Other donations include tickets to the Canadian War Museum, the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum, Yuk Yuk's Comedy, Little Ray's Reptiles, Starr Gymnastics, and Ottawa Fury soccer games.
