Boston Virtual ARTCC (BVA) is a community within VATSIM's global network of pilots and controllers. We provide air traffic control (ATC) within the Boston ARTCC on VATSIM. In addition, we have an active community of pilots who work with the controllers to create one of the most realistic air traffic control environments available online. Our controllers are specially trained and certified to provide online ATC in the Boston ARTCC, or "ZBW". This airspace overlies the northeast corner of the United States, including Boston's Logan International Airport (KBOS), as well as regional airports in Albany, Burlington, Hartford, Nantucket, Portland, Syracuse, and many more. We feature many aspects of real-world ATC from clearance delivery right up to center, and supplement our air traffic control with a friendly and helpful group of pilots. While BVA pilots are welcome to fly around the VATSIM world, pilots will only interact with BVA air traffic controllers when flying inside of ZBW. Pilots who fly in other areas of the world may be able to get air traffic control from other VATSIM communities, although the quality and availability of those controllers may differ from what is available with BVA.There are no special requirements for BVA pilots. Simply decide where you wish to fly, connect to the network, file a flight plan (if necessary), speak to the relevant controllers, and start flying. BVA offers an exceptional library of learning online and live training materials to help pilots exercise their 'license to learn'. Pages of training content, including our own Pilot Ratings Program (an authorized VATSIM ATO for P3, P4, and P5), are designed to help pilots of all skill levels get up and flying. Our Virtual FBO can help you get off the ground for the first time, or transition your real-world flying skills to the virtual realm. Or can join our Cape Air Virtual airline and shuttle passengers from hubs at KBOS, KACK, and KHYA.
