The Boy Scouts of America began in 1910 and was chartered by Congress in 1916. BSA prepares young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Leatherstocking Council provides character development and leadership skills training to approximately 4,400 Scouts in New York State's Delaware, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Otsego and Schoharie counties, as well as parts of Hamilton and Lewis counties. We also maintain and staff Camp Kingsley near Rome, NY for Cub Scouts and Camp Henderson near Cooperstown for Boy Scouts. Young men and young women also participate in Explorer Posts and Venture Crews and many of our 150+ Units travel out of state on glorious adventures!
