Marketing & Advertising - Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
Many South Australians will remember SA Great, which dates back as far as 1982. The campaign was a joint venture between a small group of business leaders and the media, and was designed to increase pride and enthusiasm in the state. The iconic SA Great logo was never more prominent in shop windows and on car bumpers than in 1991 throughout the collapse of the State Bank of South Australia, when confidence in the state was at an all-time low. With the support of government funding, sponsors and a growing member base, SA Great rebranded to Advantage SA in 2009. By that stage the business had over 10 employees and the oversight of a board of directors. Always staying true to its origins Advantage SA always had a strong media presence, with the board comprised of a representative from all types of media including print, radio and television. In 2013 South Australia's new brand was unveiled to huge fanfare, with the aim to create a common identity for all. Advantage SA rebranded to Brand South Australia and took over as the custodian of the State Brand, managing registrations and usage, and driving its adoption both within the State and on millions of products exported around the world .Due to Premier Steven Marshall's decision to cut all government funding to Brand South Australia, it was confirmed on May 16, 2019 that after 37 years the independent, bipartisan not-for-profit marketing arm for the state would be forced to close its doors on June 30 2019.
