Lisa Robitaille and Élise Pelletier are the two hard-working women behind Bread By Elise. Lisa is the Bakery and Business Development Manager, while her daughter, Élise, is the venture's inspiration and hands-in-the-dough business partner. Growing up as a young woman with developmental differences, Élise needed a focus for her life. Her mother, Lisa, who also has a hand disability, decided to teach her daughter a skill in the food industry in keeping with her daughter's culinary interests.What started out as a pastime for the mother-daughter duo soon developed into a daily baking activity. The pair began to give their sourdough loaves away to friends and neighbours, and the community feedback was so positive that Bread By Élise was born in 2020.Over the next couple of months, Bread By Élise will be building an in-home commercial kitchen and offering a new monthly, bread subscription program for the Kingston area. Bread By Élise also has an online store that sells sourdough baking equipment across Canada. Their shop includes hard-to-find items and beginner starter gift kits for anyone wanting to begin baking sourdough bread. Bread By Élise is a company that supports persons with disabilities and the employment challenges that come with that. In the year to come, Bread By Élise also hopes to begin hiring other persons with disabilities to live a more fulfilling life.
