Breaking the Silence New Mexico is a nonprofit organization that promotes mental health literacy, advocacy, and well-being for teens, youth, and adults through education, personal stories, and the arts. Our three core programs share the goal of ending the stigma, shame, silence, and secrecy surrounding mental illness and suicide. Our curriculum reaches upper elementary, middle and high school classrooms around the state. It also includes Professional Development presentations to school staff and service providers, and Community Forums for the general public.Inside Out ArtsInside Out Arts is a program where individuals with mental illness meet to create art in a group setting. Art classes culminate in an annual exhibition that is curated and showcased in a professional gallery. Artists use their practice to connect with community and fulfill a desire for inclusion.Minds Interrupted: Stories of Lives Affected by Mental IllnessMinds Interrupted features poignant stories written and presented on a professional stage by individuals and family members who have a loved one living with mental illness. "Minds" has been created and produced in communities around the country. Breaking the Silence New Mexico was founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2011. Our EIN# is 45-4188899. Our programs operate on a statewide basis throughout New Mexico and we are headquartered in Albuquerque.
