The Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition (BCAC) is a charitable incorporated society providing a united voice for New Zealand women who have experienced breast cancer. We work to make world class detection, treatment and care accessible to all those affected by breast cancer in Aotearoa, New Zealand. BCAC provides information, support and representation, empowering those with breast cancer to make informed choices about their treatment and care. Formed in 2004, BCAC is run by breast cancer survivors and is an umbrella organisation representing 30 breast cancer-related groups as well as individual members nationwide. BCAC offers the Step by Step support pack free of charge to all NZ women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. BCAC aims to improve outcomes for Māori and Pasifika women by developing networks to consult with women in these communities to identify key issues that could make a positive difference. BCAC promotes timely access for New Zealand women to quality breast cancer surgery, radiotherapy, medicines and psychosocial support. BCAC communicates, networks and collaborates to link breast cancer groups around New Zealand. BCAC supports and promotes breast cancer initiatives that encourage the early detection of breast cancer including screening and breast awareness.
