Brick Works Academy is a family-founded business established in 2012. This business was created from a personal need to provide my daughter and her friends with an opportunity to learn and explore Lego Mindstorm Robotics in depth. This original camp theme gave rise to the exploration of many STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) themes. The second camp addition was Junior Robotics. This camp aims to introduce younger students to the exciting robotics world and block-based coding. Brick Works Academy was one of the first camps to offer Minecraft gaming camps. It made perfect sense to bring Minecraft into the camps as its core is essentially an infinite world you create with blocks, just like LEGO. Stop Motion Animation with LEGO was then introduced the following summer and further developed into a computer animation camp that is still offered. Geek Culture is something Brick Works Academy wanted to embrace. This was done by adding Star Wars camps, Harry Potter camps and more tech creator camps such as:3D Design and printingYouTube VideographerDigital Music Fortnite Level DesignDungeons & Dragons. The goal is to turn campers into content creators and not just content consumers. The skills they learn at camp can serve them well with school and work projects in the future. Besides, it is a whole lot of fun being surrounded by so many like-minded new friends, LEGO and computer tech!
