Commenced in 1989 as a part of the Fukuoka city's 100th anniversary, The Asian-Pacific Children's Convention (APCC) continues as an annual event inviting 11 year-old children from countries around the Asia-Pacific to experience 2 weeks of exchange camp and home stay in Fukuoka, Japan with a mission to promote peace by nurturing children to be "Global Citizens" by developing friendship and mutual understanding among them. Up until now it is the biggest exchange event in the world.In the APCC's 10th anniversary in 1998, alumni of APCC pledged to establish an organization for APCC alumni in their respective country to continue the mission of APCC, developing respect and understanding towards peace. Bridge Club Indonesia was established on September 13, 1998 and became a part of the Bridge Club International Organization (BCIO).
