We rescue small appliances to keep them out of landfill.\\We're a not-for-profit social enterprise and a registered charity. Our focus is on reuse and repair, but we'll recycle whatever can't be saved.\\Bright Sparks gives Melburnians three new options:\1. Donate your unwanted or broken appliances to us, at our workshop in Hadfield or donation points throughout Melbourne. We'll give them new life and sell them in our shop or donate to people in need. Broken items will be repaired or recycled responsibly.\2. Repair: If an appliance breaks and you want to keep it going, we'll fix it for you at our workshop.\3. Buy (coming soon): We'll sell good-as-new kitchen appliances, household appliances, electronics and a special range of revamped lamps, fixed up with vintage fabrics. All products will be tested and tagged and come with a warranty.\\We're here until at least March 2016, thanks to funding from the Victorian Government (through the Metropolitan Local Government Waste and Resource Recovery Fund) and Moreland, Boroondara, Darebin, Whittlesea and Yarra councils.\\Our vision: to eliminate electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) in Australia.\\Our purpose: to provide you with a convenient, enticing alternative to the rubbish bin for your electrical and electronic devices\\Our mission: \* encourage reuse by building a market for pre-loved electrical items\* extend appliance lifecycles through repairs and upcycling\* recycle what cannot be reused or repaired, ensuring maximum landfill avoidance\* influence consumer disposal and purchasing behaviours through education and engagement
