The mission of Brighter Journey Foundation is to help give the area of Albuquerque and the State of New Mexico more educated and useful individuals in the Welding and Weld Inspection industry.The foundation is a learning facility that originally started from a local inspection company 505 CWI, LLC. Gerald Henderson, who started the business and the inspection company around January 2010, has noted that the Albuquerque and surrounding area could use a training program that could help start the training for weld inspection and welder training that is not a traditional 1 year junior college. All of the training will follow the recommendations of the governing societies; American Welding Society (AWS) and the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). The amount of training required for nondestructive testing is controlled by the societies, and will be the basis for required minimums. The training will also be customized by requirements of the local industry needs.Scope- Training Facility for Nondestructive testing (NDT)- Magnetic Particle inspection (MT)- Liquid Penetrant (PT)- Ultrasonic testing (UT), 2 disciplines: Thickness (UTT), and Shearwave (UTS)Welder Training- Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) commonly called stick welding- Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) commonly called MIG welding- Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) commonly called TIG weldingWithin the foundation, Case Management services will be provided in addition to the training and education model. We believe all should be given a chance to add to greater good of our community through education, while building social and life skills.Case Management will include building trust, honesty, and hard work to achieve the creation of a positive lifestyle. Referrals will be made for mental health, counseling, establishing medical insurance and a Primary doctor, substance abuse, housing, and other local community organizations that provide support and opportunity for the student.
