Currently 7M Americans suffer from chronic wounds, costing the healthcare system $40B. Physicians and nurses rely on smell, physical appearance and measurements of the wound to monitor the wound but lack real-time bio-metric data to track wound healing progression. Our Smart Bandage integrates with current bandages and tracks physiological measures, including pH, bleeding levels, blood glucose levels, and pressure. This real-time, long-term data is sent to the smartphone or tablet of the patient and physician. This allows physicians and nurses to make more informed decisions about treating the wound to increase the chances of healing by 50%. Our patent pending product (Smart Bandage) is in the space of IoT & Medical technology, targeting patients with chronic wounds (increasing in occurrence at the rate of 7-10% per year - $39 billion market in US), with the aim to improve their quality of life & simultaneously ease the burden on the health system. The disposable, low-cost initiative is mass-producible & allows for wireless monitoring of wound site in real time; sending early warnings to remote medical staff in case of infection, bleeding, pressure variation and changes in other variables; as well as drug administration, if required. The lab-testing stage has been successfully cleared, with the innovation's unveiling, we foresee a momentous shift in the way chronic wounds in particular and post-surgical wounds in general, are being treated.
