BritCits was formed in 2012 as a non-profit campaign group, in direct response to the attack on British citizens and residents with non-EEA family members. Since then, we have achieved registered charity status. The organisation is run by Sonel Mehta and Steven Green to promote the human rights of a rapidly growing membership brought together by immigration rules leading to the exile of British citizens and residents, and causing their families to break up, simply because a family member they wish to live with is a non-EEA citizen.Activities include: policy work, liaising with media and information dissemination, with the ultimate aim being:a) promoting family rights for British citizens and residents with non-EEA family membersb) having in place immigration rules which are fair, in both their intent and application. c) liaising with politicians from across the spectrum on impact of immigration rules on families. d) providing a support network for individuals affected by the rules.e) presenting at migrant events and working in conjunction with other organisations including JCWI, Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council and Migrants Rights Network, as well as under the Divided Families umbrella and MAX coalition to raise awareness of the immigration rules and their impact no human/family rights.
