The Brome Lake Boating Club was founded in 1901, with W.W. Lynch as the first president. This makes the BLBC the second-oldest sporting Club in the Eastern Townships. The original 1901 mandate stipulated 'an association or club was to be formed with a view to recreation, instruction, and amusement, such as rowing, paddling, sailing, and racing of small craft, and for the mutual recreation, instruction and amusement of the members of the association under the name of the Brome Lake Boating Club'.
