Let's face it – it's hard to find a proper New York bagel in Sydney. That's why native New Yorker and food journalist Michael Shafran started Brooklyn Boy Bagels in 2013, with the mission to bake real-deal, chewy, flavourful and authentic bagels, and save Sydneysiders from those dreaded rolls-with-a-whole impersonating bagels for decades. The means we always boil, and we don't cut corners. And since launching our own bakery, we're now doing more than just bagels; we're also putting out the country's best New York style breads and pastries, from New York deli rye to challah bread, chocolate babka and more. It's the next best thing to being there, watching a Seinfeld rerun, or noshing at Katz's Deli, Ess-a-Bagel or Russ and Daughters.
