He has behind him 20 years at the Wits Business School in Johannesburg, in particular at its Centre for Developing Business, where he was developing and delivering programmes about business start-ups and business financial management long before the acronym SMME was even coined. Workshops, training, one-on-one advisory sessions, media articles, radio host, text book author – Mel has done it all, and all in the field of business development. Since 2007 Mel has made a name for himself with his executive coaching practice, and in particular his workshop series on operational finance – Finance for Non-Financial Managers. Like the rest of us, Mel Brooks has also clawed his way across the coal face of entrepreneurship, and lost his grip a couple of times. Which means that he can walk the talk.
