Brothers in Blue was founded in January 2002. It is a three day spiritual weekend enveloped in an atmosphere of love. This event brings inmates together with a team of men from many walks of life, men that are eager to share their faith and experience with the participants. It is amazing how many of the team members have had experiences that parallel those of the men who are incarcerated. Many have struggled with addictions, fears, anger, un-forgiveness and many other things that bring pain and are contrary to the will of God. MANY LIVES have been dramatically changed. Inmates learn to serve each other in love and fellowship and several are studying for ministry after release. A Brothers in Blue weekend includes: Fellowship Great music Refreshments Talks and testimonies Spiritual values and goals Serious moments of sharing with the inmates about many areas of life Baptisms Counseling with members of the spiritual team God's grace and love are probed. Spiritual values and goals are discussed. Forgiveness is experienced. This is a significant part of this weekend program and it is dealt with in a meaningful way. Bonds of love and trust are formed. The whole team wants to see our brothers that wear the blue improve their lives with a spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ. He loves them just as they are and who wants them to see and feel the richer, fuller and more rewarding life that is available to them. No one is pressured - each man makes the decision for change. Currently, these weekends are held at Winfield Correctional Facility twice a year, Lansing Correctional Facility three times a year and Ellsworth Correctional Facility once a year.
