The purpose of the Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation, is to promote, assist, and enhance economic development in Brownfield. The City of Brownfield is the county seat and principal commercial center of Terry County, located on the South Plains of Texas between Lubbock and Odessa. The city population is 9,745. The local economy has been historically based on agri-business (farming and related business and industry) and energy production (oil and gas),but also Brownfield is in the heart of the Texas High Plains American Vitcultural Area (AVA). Terry County and the Texas High Plains AVA is the fastest developing grape region in Texas, currently producing between 60-80 percent of the wine grapes grown in Texas.
