Higher Education - Los Angeles, California, United States
Founded in 2014 as the Business Transfer Network (BTN) at UCLA, our organization was the first of its kind for transfer students in the University of California system and likely the nation at large. The organization was founded to fill a void in the campus ecosystem -- namely, that there weren't many resources to facilitate the transition from campus to the corporate world for transfers. Already saddled with the challenge of making the most of your UCLA experience with just two years of campus life, new students are often left scrambling when it comes to navigating professional programs, joining selective clubs, and enduring rigorous internship/full-time recruitment cycles. The organization hosted a variety of events with corporate partners like Disney, EY, Warner Brothers, Oracle, and Buzzfeed to meet these challenges until a brief hiatus from 2017 to 2020.Refounded in 2020 as Bruin Transfers in Business (BTiB), our organization now aims to double down on the ambitions of its founders. We will leave new business-interested transfers better-equipped, more knowledgeable, earlier on. More broadly, we hope to deepen the impact of transfers in the business community on campus and widen the presence of transfers in the corporate world. It is in these hopes that we host industry workshops, moderate alumni panels, and foster professionalism in the UCLA transfer community.
