Sports - Watermael-Boitsfort, Brussels, Belgium
The Brussels Sports Association (BSA), recognized in Belgium as an association sans but lucratif (ASBL), was established in 1958 to provide competitive team sports opportunities for children. Programs are offered in four core sports and are open to children ages 4-15 from all schools and with any level of English. Our core purpose is to connect families, inspire and develop player potential, and cultivate a passion for sports across the Brussels international community. The BSA does more than operate a sports program for children. We seek to teach, through the direct interaction of adult program directors, volunteer coaches and team parents, the values of fair play, team spirit and mutual respect. At the BSA, we believe each child's efforts are to be maximized and praised, regardless of innate athletic ability. Sports program directors and volunteer parent coaches seek, through basic skills evaluations, to balance competing teams, so that to the extent possible, a rough parity may be achieved. The BSA is run by a volunteer Board of Directors which includes: President, Vice President, Secretary and Finance Director. The Board of Directors is supported by a part-time, paid Managing Director. Each sports program - soccer, basketball, baseball and lacrosse - is organized by a volunteer Program Director. Each season, dozens of parents train to as BSA volunteer parent coaches.
