Dr. Welch graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School before receiving his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also a Diplomate and a Research Associate graduate of the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute.Dr. Welch was the architect and first executive director of the APA Practice Directorate and guided Organized Psychology through its most effective advocacy era expanding access to quality psychological services for the elderly, the disabled, and gay and lesbian populations.
