Baptist-Trinity Lutheran Legacy Foundation (BTLLF) was formed in May of 2003 as a result of the sale of the Health Midwest system to HCA. Prior to that, Baptist Medical Center Foundation and Trinity Lutheran Hospital Foundation had a long history of raising funds to support the needs of their individual hospitals and the patients they served. The BTLLF Board felt a deep commitment to continue to help the medically underserved and to support health education in the greater Kansas City area. BTL Legacy Foundation has a number of endowments and donor restricted funds and provides management and administration for various programs and services that reflect the purpose of those funds: Trinity Lutheran School of Nursing Alumnae ScholarshipL.A. Hollinger M.D. Scholarship Orear Institute for post-graduate education of healthcare professionals. W. Jack Stelmach Fund supports on-going education for family practice residents.In 2005, the BTLLF Board launched Kansas City's Medicine Cabinet, which provides short-term medical assistance to low income Kansas City area residents.
