BEC'S MISSION STATEMENTThe purpose of the BEC: -To provide a focus/forum at the local level for those with an interest in the enclosure (envelope) of buildings and related building science -To promote and encourage discussion, training, education, technology transfer, and exchange of information about local and national issues and cases, relevant weather conditions, etc. -To initiate and promote cross-disciplinary and cross-responsibility dialogue – laterally between professions and vertically between designers, consultants, educators, manufacturers, suppliers, fabricators, constructors, building operators, developers, insurers, etc. -To facility improvements in relation to process – namely, inspections, approvals, regulations, stands, liability etc.We welcome participation by anyone interested in exploring the challenges, pitfalls, and opportunities of the building enclosure, particularly in this climate zone and code jurisdiction.ABOUT BECThe Building Enclosure Council (BEC) initiative was established by an agreement between the American Institute of Architects and the Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council (BETEC) of the National Institute of Building Sciences on May 18, 2004.The purpose of the Councils is to promote and encourage discussion, training, education, technology transfer, the exchange of information about local issues and cases, relevant weather conditions, and all matters concerning building enclosures and the related science.You can find more information on the National Building Enclosure Council's website (https://www.nibs.org/page/bec).
