Hi, I'm Bradley Schull, the Director of Built Right Solutions.I grew up in Chinchilla on the Western Darling Downs where I was pretty much like all other kids growing up in the country. I spent my spare time riding motor bikes and working on the farm.I completed all my schooling in Chinchilla and I was fortunate to complete grade 12 at the local High School achieving an OP 2.With this grade, my teachers were hoping I would go on to university and complete an engineering degree, but I had to disappoint them, instead choosing to take up a carpentry apprenticeship with a local builder with a reputation for building quality homes. You see I had always enjoyed working with my hands and the satisfaction that comes from building something and being able to stand back when complete and say, "I built that". Having an uncle and a cousin who have both been builders you could say it was in my blood. During high school, I had spent all my school holidays working for several different builders in town and had gained some valuable experience and a passion for the skills that a craftsman possesses. This no doubt helped me to achieve the awards for topping our years Metalwork, Woodwork and Graphics/Technical Drawing Classes. The era when I completed my apprenticeship was when builders were actively involved onsite, completing the work alongside their team, an ethos which I still hold to today. It wasn't uncommon for the carpenters to be on-site from before the ground was broken at the start of the building process, up until the day of handover, completing all aspects of the work including concreting, roofing, tiling along with all the carpentry on a project. It is this background which I believe is something missing from many apprenticeship training today, because they don't realise how what they do affects the following trade and with today's project building mentality, apprentices just aren't taught these skills.Once I completed my apprenticeship I spent 6 years working as a sub-contract carpenter, running my own team, before returning to work for the builder I completed my apprenticeship with to run his team as the Foreman. I then gained valuable experience in other areas of supervision taking on the role of Site Supervisor for Chinchilla Hotondo and steadily progressing through the company to becoming the Construction Manager and having 11 staff under my direct management along with 150 odd sub-contractors and staff. It was during this time that I completed my Certificate IV in Building and Construction along with a Certificate IV in Front-line Management and ultimately my QBCC Builders License. After this time, I decided to start my own building company and utilise my 19 years of experience in the building industry to fulfil my clients dreams through building homes which are individually designed and that they absolutely love. It is that passion which still drive us today.
