Architecture & Planning - Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands
Buro A.D. is a design and discourse practice driven from a need to critically rethink and redevelop the standards set in architecture. We encourage debate and crosslinks between not only architecture offices, but also crosslinks between different fields of study. Debate should again perform a more prominent role within the creating of architecture as well as in the experiencing of architecture. One part of the office is focused on making connections between people and sharing and documenting our existing environment, while the other part is focused on designing these conditions of encounters and movement. Interaction should be at the base of all architecture. The projects have been worldly acknowledged with a second prize for the National Library in Cairo, a special mention for the transformation of Battersea Power Station, and publications of projects in various international architectural media.
